As I approach the threshold of my undergraduate journey, my unwavering commitment to advancing my studies in the field of religion has been a guiding force. Driven by an insatiable curiosity and a profound thirst for knowledge, I am compelled to pursue a Master's program.
My academic odyssey commenced within the Faculty of Science, where I engaged in a rigorous curriculum encompassing subjects such as biology, organic chemistry, and anatomy. However, a pivotal turning point occurred during my second year when I enrolled in the "World Religions" course, which ignited a fervent interest within me. By the start of my third year, I embarked on an honors program in religious studies, an endeavor that continued to nourish my passion for the field. Esteemed professors, including Anne Vallely, Emma Anderson, and Naomi Goldenberg, played an instrumental role in nurturing my academic fervor.
Within the realm of religious studies, my interests are multifaceted, with a particular focus on the intersection of religion and medicine. I am profoundly intrigued by the convergence of traditional religious healing practices with contemporary healthcare systems. This fascination encompasses several dimensions, including the role of indigenous healing rituals in the context of modern hospital settings, the profound influence of spirituality and religious healing in palliative care, and the therapeutic potential of microdosing psychedelic substances for the treatment of mental health disorders.
Currently, my scholarly interest is centered on the interplay between Christianity and colonial influence. I am keen to embark on a research endeavor that delves into the trickster myth, as elucidated by the eminent scholar Paul Radin, with a specific emphasis on the impact of colonialism in both its oral and written retellings. This comprehensive analysis will not only scrutinize the character of the trickster figure itself but also delve into its dualistic nature and the psychoanalytic facets associated with the conscious and unconscious elements of the trickster archetype.
In terms of methodology, my approach will encompass a thorough literature review and analysis, the identification of pertinent data sources, the delineation of key research challenges, and the application of statistical data analysis techniques to discern the implications of white normativity on marginalized and minority communities.
